Chinese Version)
NARL News Focus (2010/04/20) National Applied Research Laboratories(NARL)'s National Space Organization (NSPO) takes part in Dr. Samuel TING's AMS-02 Program (Alpha-Magnetic Spectrometer Number 2 Program), especially in charge of the thermal vacuum tests of its devices and supporting the design and test of its thermal control system. Since March 31, AMS-02 Program has begun its systematical thermal vacuum test in the plant of ESTEC (the European Space Research and Technology Centre), Netherlands. Thermal control engineers from NARL-NSPO participated in the full event. By April 16, the test has been accomplished, and AMS-02 is expected to be projected to the International Space Station by the end of 2010.
The Nobel laureate Dr. Samuel TING's AMS-02 Program aims at searching for the proof of the existence of dark matter and antimatter. The international cooperation project of Alpha-Megnetic Spectrometer (AMS) studies exactly the antimatter and the dark matter. NASA plans to send AMS-02 to conduct a three-year-term experiment in the International Space Station.
