[Industrial] HTC and China Mobile Will Present the First Chinese 3G Cellphone Together (Chinese Version)

Chinese Wall Street Journal (2009/08/24) & NowNews (2009/08/25) Chairman of China Mobile Jianzhou WANG and Chairlady of HTC Cher WANG signed MoU to develop TD-SCDMA smartphones together. China Mobile will invest RMB 47 million to develop several TD-SCDMA 3G smartphone models with HTC, including one presented by the end of 2009 and six in 2010. Besides, China Mobile and HTC will develop Chinese Android System OMS together and get prepared for the later technical cooperation in TD-LTE.

TD-SCDMA (Time Division - Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) is the 3G standard in China. Jianzhou WANG said, by the end of this June, there have been only about fifty models of TD-SCDMA end-user devices in China Market with the actual sales volumes of one million sets, and TD-SCDMA networking is only provided in 38 cities; hence, there is still a great space. Up to this July, China Mobile has more than five hundred million customers; in China Mobile's plan, the penetration rate of TD-SCDMA networking will reach 100% in 2011. Beside of HTC, China Mobile will also cooperate with Samsung, LG, Motorola, Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE etc. with regard to the development of TD-SCDMA end-user devices.
