[Sci-tech Policy] Bureau of Energy Invites 19 Service Industry Groups to Voluntary Energy Conservation Signing Conference (Chinese Version)

On 25th, Bureau of Energy, MoEA, invited 7 supermarket groups and 12 shopping mall groups to “Supermarkets and Shopping Malls' Voluntary Energy Conservation Signing Conference.” In total, 868 retail stores would make effort to reach the goal of 5% electricity conservation in three years. If the goal could be reached, 26,000 tons of CO2 emission would be reduced, and 40.72 million kwh of power would be saved. At the same time a green energy market of three hundred million NT dollars would be created.

Bureau of Energy emphasized, if the supermarket groups, hypermarkets, hospitals, hotels and department stores could take parts in voluntary energy conservation, they would win advantages under the circumstance of energy price rise. The content of the signed agreement this time included all the concrete, obvious-to-the-public strategies of energy conservation, which were expected to spread around and reinforce the public's awareness about the energy issue through the service industry's commitment and exhibition in act.

In order to build the enterprise image of energy conservation, to reinforce the resolution of the executive retail stores and to promote the idea “love the earth and save energy” around people, all the retail stores or the sales locations of the groups in the voluntary energy conservation agreement would put up the sign of “In the Voluntary Energy Conservation and Love the Earth.” The sign would be a four-leaf clover against the background of land and ocean. The growing clover on Earth symbolized the growing consciousness about voluntary energy conservation and the gratitude for the earth, and the four leaves respectively stood for “no leak of cool air,” “control air conditioner temperature,” “no arcade and fascia lights by day” and “reasonable indoor illumination.”
