NCCU Campus News (2010/01/10) The Taiwan-Germany cooperation project on crime legalism in philosophy of law and legal history between Europe and Asia, proposed by Professor Hwei-Syin CHEN and Assistant Professor Jyh-Huei CHEN at the College of Law, National Chenchi University and the associates from University of Munich, has received the sponsorship of NSC-DAAD's Project-based Personal exchange Program (PPP); besides, Professor Chi-Shing CHEN's comparative study of personal data protection and the investigation of its most adequate practice in the globe has drown great attention by the EU and consequently participated in FP7 (the Seventh Framework of Programme) with the NSC's support as well.

The cooperation project between NCCU's College of Law and University of Munich on crime legalism in philosophy of law and legal history between Europe and Asia is a two-year project, directed by Professor Hwei-Syin CHEN and assisted by Jyh-Huei CHEN; team members include Professor SCHÜNEMANN and Professor GRECO at University of Munich. Hwei-Syin CHEN points out, this project is more than international bond; in each side of the Taiwan-Germany cooperation, the participants include one senior scholar and one rather young scholar, which moreover indicates the academic heritage as well.

As for the participation in FP7, Professor Chi-Shing CHEN focuses on biometrics and the legal-ethical issue regarding personal data protection, added to which the task to promote the issue in Asia-Pacific area will be carried out, too. Professor Chi-Shing CHEN points out, the participation in FP7 will allow Taiwan scholars to co-work with those from the significant institutes such as Leibniz Center for Law of the University of Amsterdam, Center for Science, Society and Citizenship (CSSC) in Italy, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, etc. In the future, there may be international conferences held in Taipei or Beijing, and an online platform (Governance Web) constructed, to encourage the interflow among specialists all over the globe and to reach suitable solutions.
