[Electrics & Electronics] Nine Articles from Taiwan Included in ISSCC (Chinese Version)

CD News (2009/11/25) President of National Taiwan University Si-Chen LEE in his presence at IEEE SSCS press conference on 25th-November pointed out that this year nine articles from Taiwan were selected to present at ISSCC 2009, which took 5 % of all the selected in the globe; especially, among these Taiwan articles, six were contributed by National Taiwan University, which was regarded as an outstanding achievement.

CNA News reported on 25th, at the IEEE SSCS press conference it was announced that ISSCC 2010 would be held in San Francisco; besides, NTU President Si-Chen LEE and President of Etron Technology Inc. Nicky LU were invited to address to the public as well. Si-Chen LEE said, ISSCC was the most important international conference in the field of IC design, as significant as the IC design Olympic Games, and hence it was very honorable for Taiwan to take such a significant role therein; also, NTU's contribution to this year's conference was the top one among the global partners, which would be regarded as the drive encouraging NTU's further diligence. Nicky LU said, ISSCC was the real arena of the semiconductor industry; even under the global depression, the number of the submission was no less at all, which indicated the development of this industry was still steeply climbing; Taiwan should remark this phenomenon with caution. LU also commented on the direction of the industrial status that, although the US economics was going through the recession, a full power was still injected into the R&D of semiconducting technology, which yet might go under the direction of Asian people's need in the future.

Principal Investigator of the National Science and Technology Program for System-on-Chip Liang-Gee CHEN said at the event, too, that the program of NSTP for SoC would be accomplished in 2010. Afterwards, the government planned to support a new 5-year project, with ten billion NT dollars, on medical electronics and green energy electronics.
