[DOW Industry] Utilization of Low Temperature Sea Water and Multipurpose Technical R&D Model Plant Begins Construction on 1st-Jul. (Chinese Version)

Taitung County Government News (2009/07/02) National Deep Sea Water Research Program “Utilization of Low Temperature Sea Water and Multipurpose Technical R&D Model Plant Project,” which is related to “iTaiwan 12 Projects - Taitung County Deep Sea Water Industry Development Park Plan,” begins the construction of the plant on 1st-Jul, 2009. The budget of the construction reaches 0.44 billion NT dollars, and its completion is expected in 2010 July. Taitung County deep ocean water (DOW) industry takes a major step forwards again.

“Utilization of Low Temperature Sea Water and Multipurpose Technical R&D Model Plant” is managed by Center for Deep Sea Water Resource and Technology Research and Development (trans. temp.), set by both Water Resource Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Industrial Technology Research Institute. The model plant's two-hectare base area will contain research and air-conditioning model building, intake well, refrigerating and air-conditioning machinery building, low temperature flowers research greenhouse, mineral enrichment research greenhouse, low temperature vegetables research greenhouse, open-air cultivation farm, algae experimental culture building, original deep sea water tanks and experimental aquaculture zone. Utilization of Low Temperature Sea Water and Multipurpose Technical R&D Model Plant points out that the task of the plant is to help Taitung County Government with the development of DOW industry. “Utilization of Low Temperature Sea Water and Multipurpose Technical R&D Model Plant,” together with “National Aquatic Species Germplasm Bank – Taitung Branch” and “Taitung County Deep Sea Water Industry Development Park” will make Taitung one of the internationally significant center of DOW industry.
