[Sci-tech Policy] Energy Conference's Conclusion Will Result in Six Low-Carbon Cities in Five Years (Chinese Version)

BCC-News (2009/07/29) On 29th-Jul., Executive Yuan - Administration Council listens to the report on the executive achievement of the conclusive goals set in National Energy Conference. In order to carry out the conclusions of National Energy Conference, Ministry of Economic Affairs proposed 16 concrete projects. “Low-Carbon Cities Project” is one of the 16 projects aiming at building two low-carbon model communities in each city or county in two years and developing six low-carbon cities in five years. By 2020, four low-carbon living circles in the north, central, south and east Taiwan will be completed.

In order to achieve the goals, there will be low-carbon policy education for local governors and officials. As for the “Renewable Energy Multiplication Project,” reward mechanism will be established to encourage people to build electricity network system participating the establishment of the distributed power system, and 0.1 million solar roofs are planned to build as well. As for the “Reasonable Energy Price Reflection Project, ” reported Ministry of Economic Affairs, electricity price and its price structure will be reviewed regularly, and the supervision and verification mechanisms will be reenforced, concrete strategies including calling “Electricity and Natural Gas Prices Consultation Meetings,” reviewing Taiwan Power Company's combustion cost, and forming a mechanism which practises “Electricity & Fuel Prices Regulations.” The rest projects include “National GHG Reduction Project,” which aims to reduce the GHG discharge volume back to the volume in 2000 by 2025, “Green Energy Industry Sunrise Project” and “All-Site Energy Technological Talent Culture Project.” (All the project titles are translated temporarily.)
