[Medicine] National Taiwan University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong Co-establishes the “Joint Center for Clinical Research” (Chinese Version)

NTU Highlights (2010/12/13) Upholding the vision to become one of the top universities in the world, and pursuing the goal to develop academic excellence, the National Taiwan University actively promotes international academic exchanges and research cooperation. On November 2, the School of Medicine of NTU signed a cooperation agreement with the College of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in which both sides agreed to co-establish a “Joint Center for Clinical Research,” thereby strengthening and expanding the cooperation in clinical research, while fostering the new generation of clinical experts.

The signing ceremony was held in The National Center of Excellence for Clinical Trial and Research which was located on the 8th floor of the College of Public Health. President Si-Chen LEE, and Dr. Joseph Jao-Yiu SUNG, represented National Taiwan University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong to sign the agreement.

In the future the School of Medicine of both universities will conduct clinical researches on diseases which are commonly seen in Taiwan and Hong Kong, including cancers, cardiovascular diseases and gastrointestinal diseases. Both sides also agreed to set up visiting chair professorships, training courses for research personnel and seminars. The National Taiwan University hopes that, through its cooperation with the College of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, both sides can arrive at a new realm for academic exchange, research cooperation and personnel training in the bio-medical field, establishing a new milestone for the development of global bio-tech.
