[International Cooperation][Aerospace] EU Representatives Visited NSPO (Chinese Version)

NSPO Latest News (2010/05/03) The European Economic and Trade Office (EETO) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) together held "The Galileo Executive Forum" in Taipei from April 27 to 28, 2010. The European delegate includes the policy, technical, and marketing development officers of European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA), executives of European commercial companies and research institutes, director and officers of EETO, and representatives and trade officers of member states of European Union. The Director of Flight Control Division of National Space Organization (NSPO) was invited to serve as a forum panelist to discuss the applications of Galileo signals for search and rescue (SAR) missions, and weather and climate applications as well.

After the conclusion of the Forum, the European delegate came to Hsinchu Science Park visiting leading companies in GNSS industry and NSPO on April 29, 2010. Mr. Guy LEDOUX, the Director of EETO, and the guests highly praised NSPO's FORMOSAT-2 remote sensing capabilities, especially the daily image capture for the event of the recent Iceland volcano eruption which impacted greatly on European air traffic. In addition, the guests also paid special attention to and were looking forward to the intended usage of Galileo signals of the Formosat-7 mission in which higher resolution Radio Occultation (RO) data will be collected for local and global weather and climate applications.
