[Carbon Capture] Taipei to Host Symposium on Clean Coal Technology (Chinese Version)

CNA - Focus Taiwan (2012/11/24) An international symposium on carbon dioxide capture, storage and utilization will be held for the first time next week in Taipei, with the aim of sharing experience of clean coal technology development, according to the organizers.

Some 250 scholars, experts and government officials from eight countries will participate in the two-day event, which opens Nov. 26 under the auspices of Taiwan's Clean Coal Master Project and the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research.

During the two days, over 25 plenary speeches are scheduled to be given by key members from world leading organizations, including Illinois State Geological Survey of the U.S., Air Liquide of France and GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, the organizers said.

In addition, more than 100 papers covering topics ranging from strategy, policy and technology development to commercial scale demonstration projects and social economic issues will be presented.

The organizers hope that the event will help fine-tune Taiwan's plans of promoting demonstration projects on carbon capture and storage as well as establishing industry clusters in the field, with the aim of developing and applying the clean coal technology on a larger scale in Taiwan.
