[Academic] NTU's Global Ranking Keeps Climbing (
Chinese Version)
NTU Newsletter (Issue 982 & 979) After
Times Higher Education Supplement announced on 8th-Oct., 2009, that National Taiwan University was ranked top 95 in its World University Rankings 2009 (http://www.topuniversities.com/), National Taiwan University was included in the Top 500 Universities announced by Shanghai Jiao Tong University on 30th-Oct. and remained its first position again among the competitors in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. This year NTU was ranked top 150,and top 164 last year.
Shanghai Jai Tong University's Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU, has begun since 2003, with a peculiar evaluation interest in academic performance. The primary indexes are: the number of the alumni that have won a Nobel Prize or Fields Medal, 10%; number of the present teachers that have won a Nobel Prize or Fields Medal, 20%; the number of the teachers whose articles are cited frequently, 20%; research result, including the number of the research result presented in
Nature or
Science, 40%.
