[Law Studies][International Participation] National Chung Cheng University – Taiwan Legal Information Institute Joins FALM (Chinese Version)

The Liberty Times (2012/04/08) National Chung Cheng University's Taiwan Legal Information Institute has recently been recommended by AsianLII (Asian Legal Information Institute) to represent Taiwan and take a seat in the international alliance FALM (Free Access to Law Movement), becoming the 33rd state member in the alliance. Via the participation in the legal international organization, Taiwan's legal studies and international cooperations in this field are expected to be enhanced.

FALM is teamed up with governments or academic groups, whose tasks are mainly to promote the international free use and sharing of legal information and to build multi-lingual online platform for legal and sociological information. The U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, Honh Kong, South Korea, etc. are all the present member states of the alliance.

Director of Taiwan Legal Information Institute Professor Amy Huey-Ling SHEE said, during the past two years, the institute has been executing cross-nation programs with groups in Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong, or hosting international conferences. The institute also develops tight relationship with local prominent law schools.

SHEE indicated, the institute has constructed cross-nation, bilingual websites for online education respectively with Renmin University of China, China-EU School of Law in China, Nagoya University and Osaka University in Japan. From this year on, the institute also begins the execution of Judicial Yuan, R.O.C.'s construction program for a search platform for cross-nation legal data in Chinese.

SHEE said, after TaiwanLII joins FALM, the local legal and information capacity could get the opportunities for technological exchanges and integration, enhancing Taiwan's international communications and research dynamics, as well as Taiwan's international visibility.
