[Green Energy] ITRI's Green Energy Antenna Technology Wins Solar Industry Award (
Chinese Version)
CNA (2011/09/07) The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), based in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan, was awarded the group excellence award in the 2011 Solar Industry Awards September 6 at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition taking place September 5-8.
Cheng-wen WU, General Director of the ITRI's Information and Communications Research Laboratories, received the "ITRI as Excellent Organization" award at a presentation ceremony in the German city of Hamburg on behalf of an ITRI research team that came up with the technology for a "green energy antenna."
WU said the green energy antenna technology successfully integrates antenna transmission and solar panel power storage technology, simultaneously improving the conversion efficiency of solar energy optoelectronics and the efficiency of antenna reception and emission.
With the advantages that signal strength can be increased, emission power reduced, size and thickness of the antenna minimized, and power stored all at the same time, the technology can be applied to small handheld mobile devices as well as to medium and large station antennas, according to WU.
He said the ITRI has registered international patent rights for the technology and is looking for manufacturers and international cooperation partners for a technology transfer.
