[Academic Event] NSC Approves Four Proposals for Academic Summit Program (Chinese Version)

China Times E-paper & RTI (2009/09/02) In order to cultivate internationally advanced researchers, NSC Academic Summit Program offers long-term sponsorship to support outstanding researchers that have been internationally advanced or are recognized as highly potential. The final review was completed in the middle of August and four proposals were selected from sixty-four applications from twenty-four academic institutes including Academia Sinica. These four approved proposals are: Professor Yuan-Pern LEE, Dept. of Applied Chemistry, NCTU, “Novel Vibrational Spectroscopy and Dynamics - from Gas Phase to Sensitized Solarcells”; Professor Shih-Lin CHANG, Dept. of Physics, NTHU, “Probing Static and Dynamic Atomic Structures by Diffraction and Scattering of Ultrahigh Spatial and Temporal Coherent X-rays”; Professor Chung-Hsiung SUI, Institute of Hydrological Oceanic Sciences, NCU, “East Asian Hydrologic Cycle and Its Response to Climate Change”; and Dr. Soo-Chen CHENG, Institute of Molecular Biology, AS, “ RNA Splicing and Spliceosome Dynamics.”

NSC said, perhaps because Academic Summit Program is a new program, most of the possible applicants cannot get ready in time and hence not many proposals are granted this time. Responding to this situation, NSC will go out actively look for serendipity and encourage the research universities to apply for the program in the future.
