Chinese Version)
CNA - Focus Taiwan (2012/12/12) Quanta Computer Inc., the world's top contract notebook maker, on December 12 unveiled a computer server using Intel Corp.'s latest low-power chips.
James JAU, Vice President of Quanta's cloud computing business unit, said the new S900-X31A microserver is expected to drive growth of his company's server shipments.
"It is a new product line and is expected to spur new applications," he said at a news conference to launch Intel's Atom S1200 processor family and its customers' server products.
Quanta shipped over 1 million units of computer servers last year, JAU said but declined to disclose the company's server shipment targets for 2012 and 2013.
Intel said its 6-watt Atom S1200 processors can help companies achieve high reliability and cost effectiveness for data storage.
