[International Cooperation] Taiwan Signs MOU on Sci-tech Cooperation with Central European Group (Chinese Version)

CNA (2011/07/04) Taiwan's National Science Council (NSC) sealed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the International Visegrad Fund (IVF) in the Polish capital of Warsaw Monday to expand technology cooperation between Taiwan and Central Europe.

The MOU was signed by NSC Minister Lou-chuan LEE and IVF Executive Director Petr VAGNER. They previously signed a Technology Letter of Intent last September.

Under the deal, the NSC will cooperate with the international organization to launch short-term research exchanges for young scholars beginning in the second half of the year and hold a bilateral information and communications technology seminar this fall.

Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia founded the Visegrad Group after the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe to seek out cooperation and integration with other European countries.

The group set up the IVF in 2000 to promote science, culture, research, and educational projects, and youth exchanges. The four member nations take turns rotating as the fund's president.
