[International Cooperation] Taiwan and India Plan to Forge Ties in Economic and Technological Cooperation (Chinese Version)

CNA (2011/02/17, 21 & 24) The delegation of 90 government officials and business representatives from Taiwan is visiting India to discuss business opportunities between the two countries as part of government efforts to increase bilateral investment.

During its five-day trip, the delegation will also visit Mumbai and Ahmedabad for business meetings with corporations there.

The meetings will focus on six major sectors -- green energy, high technology, bio-medicine, intelligent automobiles, land development and digital content.

It is reported on February 24 that the leader of the Indian state of Gujarat, Chief Minister Narendra MODI, is enticing more Taiwanese investors into his state with an offer of land, neighboring the capital city of Ahmedabad, on which Taiwan could build an industrial park.

Expecting India to become the world's largest 3G and 4G market in the near future, MODI touted the synergies of business cooperation by suggesting Taiwan and Gujarat forge ties in research and design for computing and mobile devices.

Taiwan is the hardware expert and India is good at producing software. Taiwan and Gujarat could benefit from cooperation, said MODI.

MODI also welcomed Taiwan to join a project to build Asia's largest solar energy park in Gujarat.
