[International Cooperation][Aerospace] CSIST Continues to Contract in to ALMA's Front End Service Vehicle Research and Production Program (Chinese Version)

Military News Agency (2010/08/08) Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST) has successfully contracted with National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), U.S., into the Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array Project (ALMA)'s research and production plan again this year and will invite several local enterprises to take the part of producing two sets of front end service vehicle (FESV) in ALMA's international cooperative project, contributing its research and development capacity in the nation's as well as the globe's astronomy and aerospace technology development.
　
CSIST said, with the recommendation by the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Academia Sinica, its team obtained the contract with NRAO to develop two sets of FESV in the ALMA project. In the contracted program, CSIST will cooperate with the local enterprises including COTECH, Inc., Ke Chong Industrial Co., Ltd., Taikoo Motors, and several universities; the execution had begun since April, 2010, when the contract was signed by all parties.

CSIST also said, ALMA is a large-scale international project in which Academia Sinica is taking a part; the goal of the project is to investigate the radiation waves from distant galaxies to gather the information about the origin of the universe. Academia Sinica began to take part in the project in 2006, mainly in charge of the construction and testing of the integrated individual front-end modules of the receivers of ALMA's radio telescopes. Academia Sinica also had constructed Front End Integration Center (FEIC) in its Taichung district, which is one of ALMA's three major FEIC's in the globe (the other two are in Europe continent and America continent respectively).
　
CSIST emphasized, the excellence the research team had achieved was internationally recognized; hence, the team received Academia Sinica's recommendation to the ALMA/FESV bidding held by NRAO and wan out successfully.
