[Infotech][Disaster Response] ITRI Will Provide “Eagle Eye” to Help with Disaster Response and Management (Chinese Version)

Commercial Times (2009/08/14) In response to the serious damage induced by 88 Flood in South Taiwan, ITRI President Johnsee LEE proposed to introduce ITRI's techniques in the present disaster management as well as the post-disaster reconstruction and the everyday preparedness. Johnsee LEE said, ITRI's “Eagle Eye,” “Wireless Sensor Network System & Application” and so on could participate the disaster relief and the following disaster preparedness in order to increase the disaster response efficiency and the effect of precaution.

With “Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)” embedded in the infrastructure such as roadways or bridges, the statuses of the roadways and bridges are constantly monitored, with the data of which weather analysis will be computed together so that realtime alert can be provided. ITRI's accumulation of researches regarding geological investment, plant site exploration records, satellite pictures etc., could help with the determination of reconstruction sites. Especially, “Eagle Eye,” the unmanned aerial vehicle embedded with camera, can be sent into the disaster area at the first place, investigating the area and sending back images for the reference of disaster management and response. Such data will be critical materials during the golden period.
