NARL News (2011/03/29) In order to assist the industrial development of medical-electronic, catronic and consumer electronic products as well as to reduce the production cost, National Applied Research Laboratories (NARL) constructs an intelligent electronic system development platform-- “MorPACK”. On March 29, NARL addresses, the platform with the conception of modules and block-building can shorten the development period for each electronic product for three to six months and reduce the cost of about 1.5 million NT dollars, making the IC industry in Taiwan more competitive.
NARL points out, IC industry is one of the major industries in Taiwan. Taiwan takes the second highest market share rate of the global IC design and DRAM industry. Besides, Taiwan holds the highest market share of the global industries of wafer OEM, IC packaging and IC testing. The total output value of Taiwan IC industry last year reaches 170 billion NT dollars. In the future, it is expected that medical electronics, green energy electronics, cartronics and the three C's products (communication, computer and consumer electronics) will contribute a large, growing number of opportunities to the industry. Hence, NARL believes the construction of the electronic system development platform is needed.
The main conception of the platform is based on shared and reusable modules, and, accordingly, NARL has developed the technology of die-level modularization and three-D module blocking. With the platform, NARL believes that the development period of a project can be reduced for three to six months while the development cost can be cut down for about 1.5 million NT dollars.
