Guyer(《Kant and the Experience of Freedom》229–74)為康德這種不失古風的偏愛自然美辯護。他特別針對Kemal(《Kant and Fine Art》)對康德的批評辯駁。Brandt( 〈Die Schönheit der Kristalle〉)專注於第五十八節,特別討論雪花之美與其他種結晶的形式。 Rueger(〈Kant and the Aesthetics of Nature〉)論說自然不帶目的,是「盲目」且「機械的」,也認為美的道德意義由此衍生。

康德依照我們是將所見遞交給認知能力(the power of cognition,Erkenntnisvermögen)或者給慾望能力(the power of desire,Begehrungsvermögen)來區分出兩種崇高:數學的崇高以及動力的崇高。

Crawford(〈Place of the Sublime〉)展示康德式的崇高理論中的成素大部分都能在 Longinus、Burnet、Addison、Burke、Hogarth等人那邊找到。 Guyer(〈Kant's Distinction between the Beautiful and the Sublime〉)則解釋了康德如何利用邏輯、語言學以及認識論的面向來對比崇高的現象學與心理學的面向。 Makkreel(《Imagination and Interpretation in Kant》67–77)將瞬時美感領悟(instantaneous aesthetic comprehension) 與康德第一《批判》的強度的度數(degrees of intensity)關聯起來,此外,Lyotard提出這兩個《批判》之間的許多關聯。

一方面,Brandt(〈Zur Logik des ästhetischen Urteils〉)、Shier、Guyer(《Values of Beauty》141–62;〈Harmony of the Faculties Revisited〉)論說康德的論述不能成功地套用到醜陋。

近來,《Journal of Chinese Philosophy》出版了一部特刊聚焦於康德與孔子(33.1 (2006)),還有一本由Hussain與 Wilkinson編輯的文集《The Pursuit of Comparative Aesthetics: An Interface between East and West》(2006),蒐羅了好幾篇文章探討這兩位哲學家。 在前面提到的《Journal of Chinese Philosophy》特刊中,文哲(〈Beauty in Kant and Confucius〉)討論《論語》中的六個出現「美」這個用語的篇章。
