<description>[International Cooperation] Electric Car Development between Taiwan, Germany Promoted at Forum (Chinese Version)

CNA - Focus Taiwan (2012/09/15) A forum recently organized in Frankfurt, Germany by the Taiwan government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) focused on future electric car development between Taiwan and Germany, the ITRI said on September 15.

The &quot;Europe Meets Taiwan&quot; forum, which had a theme of &quot;ICT Changes Auto,&quot; brought together representatives from Taiwan's information and communications technology (ICT) industry and German car developers, paving the path for cooperation in electric car development.

The ITRI said the collaboration at the forum is expected to create good business opportunities for the two countries in the world market.

Through the forum, Taiwan has become more aware of the option of making good use of Germany's electric car technology, while the European country is expected to take advantage of the island's strength in electronics development, the institute said.

Exporters from the two countries shared information about telematics and electric cars, and informed each other about the latest trends in the auto industry, the ITRI said.

In an ITRI presentation at the forum, Taiwan touted its achievements in a wide range of electronics development, including the foundry business, integrated circuit design, IC packaging and testing services, and production of light-emitting diode products, thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays, and printed circuit boards.

The institute also urged Germany to partner with Taiwan whenever it aims to penetrate the electric car market in Asia.

Talks by German participants at the forum focused on current electric car developments and future integration of the auto industry and Internet applications.
