<i>CNA</i> (2010/10/24) & <i>Taiwan International Green Energy Industry Show 2010 Website</i> 2010 Taiwan-Canada Symposium on Renewable Energy which centered around solar power and fuel battery technology just took place in Ottawa, Canada, on October 23; the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT) was partnering with Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to organize a Canadian Innovative Green Energy Solutions Seminar at Taiwan International Green Industry Show (TIGIS) on October 25. The cooperation and interchanges between both sides on green energy development and management got more and more intensified.

2010 Taiwan-Canada Symposium on Renewable Energy was co-hosted by the Toronto branch of the North America Taiwanese Engineers' Association (NATEA) and the Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada. Experts from universities in Canada and in Taiwan came and participated in the event, contributing exciting discussions and dialogues. Dr. David Tawei LEE, Taiwan's Representative in Canada, addressed at the opening ceremony that scholars and scientists always play significant roles in innovating energy science and technology, and that the participants from Canada and Taiwan could gather and share experiences and knowledge together must largely accelerate the development of the relevant advanced sciences and technology, which must result in great benefits to human being.

The participants in the symposium were all the experts of the experts, and the topics of the symposium included: the key materials for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), the catalyst methods for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), the related materials and sensing technology for solar batteries, dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC), etc. The symposium was sponsored by Taiwan's National Science Council, and it was expected that through the event more and cooperation on energy sciences and technology between the two countries could be encouraged.

During the Canadian Innovative Green Energy Solutions Seminar three experts from Canada were invited to exchange experiences and advises with experts in Taiwan especially with regard to the technologies of intelligent electric web, generation equipment, transportation, underground mining, carbon management and energy conservation. The three Canadian experts were also representing three Canadian companies: Future Energy Solutions (FES), Joe Ng Group of Companies (JNE), and HEMMERA.
