ADC Awards of Art Directors Club in New York began in 1920. The award is regarded as an enduring symbol of creative leadership and innovation. The competition has continued since 1920, and the awards are given in various categories including advertisement, environment design, print design etc. Due to its high standard, it is very common that the gold cube or silver cube winner is absent.

Associate Professor Leo C.-L. LIN at Department of Visual Design, National Taiwan Normal University, won the ADC Silver Cube in the category of poster design with his work Global Warming while the winner of the Gold Cube in this category is absent. He is the first Taiwanese winner in the history of the competition. He went to New York to receive the award on May 19 and returned on 23. He said, with the poster he tried to express the environmental issue of global warming. The profile of human face symbolizes the survival crisis while the water level indicates the melting of icebergs, rising of sea level and the sinking of islands such as Maldives.
