APGN Newsletter (2010/04/26) The first big international environmental conference held in and by Taiwan APGN 2010 (Asia-Pacific Greens Network Congress 2010) will take place in Taipei between April 30 and May 2. The theme of the congress is Fair Share, exclaiming that every individual on the globe shares the equal right, resources and responsibility for sustainability of life. Besides, in response to the post-Copenhagen international status, the representatives of the participated countries or areas will through serial keynote speeches and forums try to reach some conclusions about how to react to the climate change together. This is the first time for Taiwan to host a significant internationally cooperational event on climate change.

The congress will take the form of Open Space Meeting. The participants will enjoy an open, diverse and interactive procedure of collective creation, through which the topics of the congress and the operative plans of the network will be discussed. Three keynote speeches are arranged, speakers including Bob BROWN, the founder of Australia's Green Party and the Congressman of the country; Dr. Vandana SHIVA, the founder of Navdanya Foundation in India who has received an Ig Nobel Prize; and Apisai IELEMIA, the president of Tuvalu. In the last day's official congress, the APGN committee members are to be elected; besides, the content of the Fair Share declaration, next year's congress goals and the plan for the following five years are all to be discussed.

Moreover, on April 29, the day before the the opening of APGN 2010, two special pre-meetings are to be held: Asia Pacific Young Greens Network嚗APYGN) & Asia Pacific Queer Greens Network (APQGN) Congress.
