NCKU Realtime News (2010/02/23) Professor Yau-Hwang KUO of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), has been devoting himself to the elderly's digital medical and home caring for years. He established the first E-life digital research center in Taiwan in 2000 and has brought forth several novel products for the elderly's caring. In the near future, the elderly will be able to play games, watch movies or chat together with friends or relatives via the internet platform by using the TV remote control. With the platform, a more comprehensive medical caring and consulting service for the elderly will be provided and the senile home safety as well as the prevention of mental deterioration will be greatly enhanced.

The team led by Professor Yau-Hwang KUO is teamed up with members of medical, geriatric, and psychological experts from National Cheng Kung University Medical College and the Hospital, also cooperated with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital and Tainai Veteran Homes. The team aims at building an E-life service environment for the elderly.
