CNA - Focus Taiwan (2012/12/15) A computer-assisted education program in St. Lucia, initiated by Taiwan to achieve better use of human resources, has been handed over to the Caribbean country's government.

Under the program, Taiwan has donated 1,400 computers to 74 elementary schools in the country over the past three years, benefiting 24,000 students, said Taiwan's Ambassador to St. Lucia James CHANG at the handover ceremony on December 14.

The program, another example of successful cooperation between the two diplomatic allies, is expected to improve the use of human resources in St. Lucia, CHANG said.

Robert LEWIS, St Lucia's Minister of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, expressed gratitude to Taiwan's government and people for their help over the years.

The project incorporates the use of television programs, computers and the Internet for distance learning. It is aimed at enhancing teaching and improving students' computer literacy, according to Taiwan's embassy in St. Lucia.
