[Creativity] Inventors from Taiwan Nab 46 Gold Medals at Polish Invention Show (<a href=http://mepopedia.com/forum/read.php?127,25957>Chinese Version</a>)

<i>RTI</i> (2012/10/21) Inventors from Taiwan have walked away from an invention show in Poland with no less than 86 awards. That's more than any other single country in attendance.

Taiwan was one of 15 countries represented at this year's invention show. Of Taiwan's 86 awards, 46 were gold medals, 33 were silver, and three were bronze.

The highest honor received was the special award of the International Federation of Inventors Associations. That was given to a team led by Pung-ling HUANG, Dean of the College of Agriculture at Taipei's Chinese Culture University.

The team's invention effectively turns off the ability of certain plants and flowers to produce pollen. That in turn can reduce the pollen that causes hay fever in urban areas.

Another big winner was Yuan-he CHEN, Dean of the school of management at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. CHEN won the gold medal and judge's special award for a cigarette box with a compartment to dispose of cigarette butts.
