<i>China Times E-paper</i> (2011/12/19) The first case of the integration of two vocational and technological institute-colleges is done with the inauguration of National Taichung University of Science and Technology. The inauguration ceremony was held on December 19, to which Minister of Education Ching-ji WU and some local governmental officials attended. WU said, the integration means one plus one outputs larger than two; he expected the university to become the most competitive university of science and technology in Central Taiwan.

National Taichung University of Science and Technology is the combination of National Taichung Institute of Technology and National Taichung Nursing College. The inauguration ceremony took place at her Sanmin Campus on December 19. Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan Join-sane LIN, Minister of Education Ching-ji WU and Deputy Mayor of Taichung City witnessed the event.

WU said, both institute-colleges are excellent vocational and technological schools in Taiwan. The combination of the two aims at implementing the value of one plus one outputting larger than two. The talent cultivation programs especially with regard to the higher vocational and technological education have been highly recognized around the globe. Taiwan is regarded as the most advanced four countries in this field together with Austria, Germany and Japan.

WU added, National Taichung University of Science and Technology sets a new model reforming Taiwan's higher vocational and technological education, upgrading vocational and technological schools to colleges and institutes and then upgrading them to universities of science and technology. He said, the experience is worth for other countries' reference.
