CNA - Focus Taiwan (2011/11/21) Taiwan finished in the top three in all the categories of the the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) that was held in the United Arab Emirates November 18-20. The Taiwan teams took first and third place in the senior high school division, first place in the elementary school category, and second in the junior high school category.

27 Taiwanese teams comprising 150 students took part in the competition in Abu Dhabi. It was attended by 35 countries that sent a total of more than 1,000 students. In the football category, which was a pilot event of the Olympiad, Taiwan came in third.

President Ying-jeou MA sent a congratulatory message to the Taiwan delegation, which was led by Huan-chen CHAN, Chairman of Esun Robot Association, a non-profit organization that is committed to promoting robot education. CHAN attributed the delegation's success to its determination to come away with top honors.

The robotics competition was organized by the WRO organization and Danish toy building brick manufacturer Lego. It was hosted in 2007 by Taiwan.
