[International Cooperation] Taiwan and Japan Should Increase Sci-tech Cooperation, Especially after 311 Earthquake: Taiwan-Japan Science and Technology Forum (<a href=http://mepopedia.com/forum/read.php?127,15510>Chinese Version</a>)

<i>RTI</i> (2011/09/05) Taiwan-Japan Science and Technology Forum is held from September 5 to 6. Significant figures from the governments, academia and industries in Japan and Taiwan are invited to the event to discuss about the impact of 311 Earthquake in Japan and the cooperation possibilities between two sides with regard to nuclear energy safety, energy policy and risk control.

Chair of Chung-hua Institution for Economic Research Chi-Yuan LIANG points out at his address that the post-earthquake management in Japan including the power restriction, industrial chain restoration, and management of the nuclear crisis, has inspired Taiwan a lot, especially since the two nations, which are both located in the circum-Pacific seismic belt, are close industrial and economic affiliates. By this forum, both sides wish to enhance the affiliation between the two sides by sharing knowledge and experiences, enhancing industrial cooperation, constructing a mutual rescue mechanism, sharing job markets, etc.

LIANG thinks, after the 311 earthquake in Japan, how to face great scale disasters like the earthquake globally became an urgent issue. He thinks, the earthquake has not only changed Japan's development but also changed the notions of state development everywhere in the world. People began to think that we all have to undertake the global risks together, like the nuclear crisis, and people need to find ways to enhance international cooperation.
