[Cross-Strait][Information] Taiwan Pursues Access to China for Mobile Apps (<a href=http://mepopedia.com/forum/read.php?127,15455>Chinese Version</a>)

<i>The China Post</i> (2011/08/27) & <i>China Times E-paper</i> (2011/08/17) The government is currently negotiating with mainland China to allow Taiwan's mobile apps access to China's market, an economics official said August 26.

The talks are being conducted under the economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA), which includes digital content services in its early harvest program, said Neng-chuan CHOU, Deputy Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau.

He was speaking in a seminar held by ruling Kuomintang Legislator Shyh-bao LAI on how to develop Taiwan's mobile app industry.

According to Chou, the negotiations are difficult because the mainland has so far not opened its mobile app market to the rest of the world. Taiwan, however, hopes that it can be treated differently now that the two sides have signed ECFA, he said.

<i>China Times E-paper</i> reports, a cross-strait Apps cooperation MOU is going to be signed by the telecom companies between two sides of the strait, which is promoted together by Taiwan's Information Industry Institute and China Association of Communications Enterprises. The MOU is regarded to initialize the cross-strait cooperation on Apps industry.
