China Times E-paper / CNA-News (2009/08/16) Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD), Executive Yuan, will continue the promotion of Women's Digital Drop Reduction Program 2009 (trans. temp.). Twenty thousand women's job opportunities are expected, and about thirty million NT dollars will be spent.

CEPD said, according to the report by the Department of Commerce of the US, the possession of computer and the competence to use computer were going to be the main factors for poverty gap; besides, the Report of Digital Drop Investigation 2008 (trans. temp.) by Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission, Executive Yuan, showed that the penetration rate of computer use of the over-fifty-year-old women in Taiwan was lower for seven to ten percent than the men of the same age. Therefore, CEPD promoted and promised to continue the Women's Digital Drop Reduction Program in order to reduce women's digital drop and to advance women's employability or entrepreneurial competence. CEPD said, the official announcement would be put online these days, soliciting proposals for women's computer training programs from the non-profit organizations or educational organizations. It was expected to start relevant training classes in September or October this year.
