[SCI-TECH POLOCY] President Ma: Foreign Academic Thinks Taiwan Is Suitable for Developing Green Sci-Technology
President Ma Ying-jeou repeated in public one MIT professor's opinion that Green Sci-Technology will be the leading industry of the next generation, which happens to be very suitable for Taiwan and might make Taiwan the international leader of the industry if Taiwan grasps the preemptive opportunities.
The President talked about a meeting with one MIT professor several days ago when he met the new-appointed Presidential Advisers of Honor on 19th-Jan., 2009. The MIT professor believes, as repeated, (1) Taiwan possesses good basis for high-tech industries, especially information industries, (2) modernization in Taiwan goes very rapid and wide-spread, (3) Taiwan is relatively small and involved with rather simple relevant factors, and therefore Taiwan will become the leading country of Green Sci-Technology if the development begins ahead of other countries.
The President said, e President said, the government will take the suggestion into serious consideration, and, to his knowledge, Executive Yuan has similar idea too.
