用特殊網具捕獲這兩種蝙蝠的雪管處技士陳家鴻說,無尾葉鼻蝠鼻部為葉片狀,耳朵像紙捲成圓桶狀,主要棲息在洞穴,台灣已知分布地點只有宜蘭、南投與花蓮等少數棲地,海拔1870公尺的雪見是目前分布海拔的最高紀錄。彩蝠1999年在台灣首次發現,地點在雪霸觀霧地區周邊的新竹白蘭部落。彩蝠的主要特徵是耳朵像壓扁後撐開的漏斗,住在中空的竹節中。國外的彩蝠在毛色上有許多變化,台灣的彩蝠是灰黑色。

Twenty-two species of bat (76% of all the species of bat in Taiwan) have been observed in Shei-Pa. The West-Northern area of Shei-Pa becomes the place with the most diverse species of bat in Taiwan.

Having captured these two kinds of bat with special designed equipment, the Shei-Pa technical specialist Chia-hung Chen (陳家鴻) said, the Formosan tailless leaf-nosed bat has leaf-shaped nose and paper-cone-liked ears and inhabits usually in caves. Only at a few spots in Yilan, Nantou and Hualian, is it observed. Syuejian, elevation 1879 meters, is its highest inhabitance ever found.
